2014 Recap

With 2014 drawing to a close,  I want to offer a huge THANKS for another great year.....a year that included a few new releases, some great press, a ton of fun shows, and laid the foundation for some upcoming projects and releases to flourish in 2015.

The wave of support for Technicolor HI-FI gained momentum through 2014 with release parties in NYC and NJ.  The record received some great press at Revive Music as well as a feature article in The Village Voice with quotes and support from legendary DJ; Bobbito Garcia.  Veteran taste-makers and DJs the likes of Gilles Peterson, DJ Spinna, and Bobbito Garcia showed support for the record.  A HUGE thanks goes out to all of the DJs who played my music on their radio show, podcast, or live event.

The full length LP with John Robinson entitled "Modern Vintage" came out just about half way through 2014 and continued to open doors to new opportunities and listeners worldwide.  Some highlights from the release included dropping the video for "All of the World" shot live in Jersey City with the Open Crates family, visiting the Halftime Radio Show with DJ Eclipse, as well as visiting the Sirius XM Radio show; "Rap is Outta Control".  Lastly, the show at Brooklyn Museum was a blast!  Stay tuned for more videos and remixes from Modern Vintage as well as a follow up project from JR, Melinda Camille, and yours truly.

The opening of "Dukes Southern Table" in downtown Newark, NJ was another highlight of this year.  I'm excited to be involved in this great new venue for live music in NJ, and to have the opportunity to bring different projects of mine to the live stage at Duke's.  If you haven't yet, come check out a night of music and food at Newark's new premier live music venue.

I started the "Behind The Beat" series this year to highlight the creative and recording process behind some of the music on Modern Vintage.  Shot and directed by Bobby Garcia, the short videos take a behind the scenes look into the studio and highlight the creation of "Respect King" & "Two Man Mob"....a track which features legendary rapper Sadat X, from Brand Nubian.  Stay tuned for more videos in this series.

There's lots of music on the horizon for 2015 including the full length follow up to Technicolor HI-FI, scheduled to be released on the German label: Jakarta Records, a few vinyl releases with Open Crates, a project featuring (singer) Melinda Camille, a remix release with tracks from DJ Spinna & Buscrates, as well as a new Bossa Nova Breakbeat project featuring the sounds of analog drum machines beside live horns, guitars, and percussion.  Stay tuned.

Thanks as always for your support.  Here's to a great 2015!
